Site Problems
Important update (May 1)
We apologise to our readers for the continuing dislocation of our site, which we are continuing to try to solve.
As we’ve explained, this was caused when a component of the site was updated, and proved to be flawed. This has affected many other users of the WordPress platform and while the component’s developers claim to have fixed the problem, it has left lasting effects on our site, which our host support has not been able to repair (they continue to work on it).
The page-top menu has been created by the WordPress system, not us, and can’t be changed. The look and size of it is very unsatisfactory but, unfortunately, it seems to be the only way that our readers can be provided with access to some of the functions of the site. Regrettably, it will have to remain in place until a solution and we are able to restore both full functionality and the normal appearance of our site. The issue has also broken the indexing system which allowed readers to look for reviews by label/composer/reviewer/Recommended etc.
We had hoped that MusicWeb could be fully restored reasonably quickly and so we took the decision temporarily to suspend the publication of new reviews in order to focus on the site issues. Sadly, despite countless hours of work by our back-office team, the problems persist.
So, we are resuming publication of reviews on Monday May 5 at the usual time, which we are sure readers will appreciate, even though the appearance of the site remains less than ideal. Missing April reviews have been restored, and with the April Recordings of the Month announced.
