When Alastair Mitchell and Alan Poulton first wrote/compiled this catalogue it was intended as the second of a series of Chronicles of first UK performances. It was to be the second of a projected four individual titles as follows:

Vols. 3 and 4: A Chronicle of First Performances in UK regions 1893-2000. Scheduled to cover UK regional premieres including London venues other than the Promenade concerts. Never published. Entries alphabetically arranged by geographical area – approx. A-L (Vol 3) and M-Z (Vol 4).

It is hoped that Volumes 3 and 4 will, in due course, also appear on this site.
