A celebration of the life of Dr Len Mullenger

Some 100 people gathered at the Coombe Abbey Hotel, Coventry on 17 October to celebrate the life and achievements of MusicWeb International’s founder, Len Mullenger.

Tributes to Len were led by his son, Tom, who remembered him, fondly and wittily, as a father. In particular, Tom affectionately described Len as ‘a rebel’ in the sense that he was never afraid to try something new or to broaden his horizons, a trait that he always encouraged in Tom and his sister, Elizabeth.

Other tributes were given by Len’s longstanding close friend, Chris Thomas; by Andy Syson, a former colleague on the academic staff at Coventry University; and by John Quinn on behalf of MusicWeb.

It was an event which brought together people from the many and varied strands of Len’s life. Not only were family members present but also former colleagues from Coventry University; fellow members of Len’s Probus club; a good number of friends that Len and Barbara had made during various cruises and other holidays; locally based friends; and, of course, MusicWeb was well represented.

Barbara, Elizabeth and Tom had been determined that this should be a celebration of Len’s life and that’s just what it was. He was remembered with affection and admiration by people whose lives he’d touched – and always for the better.
